I touch wood
Dirt
Soil
Earth
I touch stone
Rest
Feel the rain on my hands
I’m blessed

Liv-K. Nome from the opening on May 22, 2025, at Granborg
This week, in the spring of the Norwegian woods, has been cold with winds from the north. Still, occasional sun helped warm our enthusiasm for being amidst the natural surroundings of the place-specific installations, sound, and images from various works I’ve created here over the last decade.
Our goal is to present something new and direct, yet familiar—something that touches the senses and underlying feelings. Together with the homemade technical finesse from our team members, we believe we’ve created a heartfelt and conscious environment for reflection and connection with the source of life: nature itself.
We are grateful for the wonderful visitors who came and added life to the scenery, for the sold pictures, and for the participants in the Cyanotype workshop! It was such a fun experience.
The exhibition is part of the Check Festival EDO 2025, and we’d particularly like to thank Michal Bartoš and Katarína Zuntychová for making the online cooperation possible. In addition, the experimental short film Mirabelle’s Bloom was screened as part of the EDO 2025 program at the Museum of Modern Art in Olomouc from April 11-14, 2025.

Mirabelle’s Bloom Sound (2022-2025)

Sound Installation
“This is a decades-old plum tree. It’s called Mirabelle and its botanical name is Prunus domestica. The species developed from a wild variety of old plums called Prunus insititia, belonging to the rose family. It was grown from a plum stone and doesn’t need to be grafted like modern trees to produce fruit. It has long thorns for protection. For one week each year, she blooms in varying abundance, making space for the neighborhood bees while they are pollinated. The healing sound of the surrounding forest and the buzzing of the bees is experienced as a great comfort.”

Rust #1 and #2

Photo print on aluminium – 70cmx70cm /70cm x100cm
“I’m fascinated by the close-up details in nature; they truly trigger my imagination. Often, the smallest things remind me of the grandest – like outer space or figures from the realm of dreams. The rust-formed lines and shapes I discovered on the old wheelbarrow in the yard outside my studio provided me with an abundance of abstract motifs. I used my Canon EOS M camera for the shoot”.
Montages #1-#5

Lacquered and mounted with adhesive on acid-free paper in recycled frame. Size A3, A4, A5 and A6
My wheelbarrow stood outside in all weather for several years until I noticed the paint starting to peel off and rust patterns had formed on the back of the paint flakes. I carefully peeled these off and collected them to work with further in the studio. The abstract rust formations remind me of world maps or images from a dream. Some are assembled like collages, while others are pure and unbroken flakes. They are transformed “scrap” and appear as something new.

This banner features artwork from the 2015 SKOG (Forest) exhibition at Tøyen Metro Station. It is also an image from the short film and musical project Borderland waterfall / Fossen i grenseland. This is an awareness project concerning the pollution of waterways leading down to Bunnefjorden.

OAK (2025) Videoinstallation

Video installation with excerpts from a short film in progress.
“The oak and mixed forest here are part of an ancient oak tree belt that stretches south into Europe. Now, only remnants remain.
If an oak tree is larger than 63 cm in diameter – 200 cm in circumference – it is protected by Norwegian law. At that point, it’s approximately 78 years old.
Oaks know no borders and were considered sacred in many countries. They were tall, large, and could be struck by lightning. Therefore, they were often associated with gods of lightning and thunder. Quercus robur is its Latin name.
They arrived in Norway approximately 7000 years ago. In the 17th century, the large oak forests were cut down, used for shipbuilding and housing, or burned away to create arable land.
This is like a grandmother tree, approximately 70-80 years old. Hundreds of species live on it.”
SCRAP / SKRAMMEL (2025)Videoinstallation

Two-screen video installation in a wheelbarrow, featuring old, rusty iron scrap collected from the property over the years. Premiering at Wild / Domesticated 2025
Over the past couple of decades, I’ve collected old, rusty tools and discarded utilitarian objects that I’ve found while clearing my property. Their history lies untold within them. Someone used these before; they were important for building a home and cultivating the land. In an accumulated pile, I find they transform into something other than their original function—something sensually unfamiliar yet naturally recognizable.
Throughout the film displayed on two separate pads, we follow the process of the rusty old wheelbarrow being filled with the pile of rusty tools. The ambient soundscape from working with the objects, humming, and nature accompanies the action in the film.
The Campfire Site Videoinstallation

Our presentation at the campfire site featured award-winning works screened in a loop, accompanied by a video portrait, with audio accessible via headphones.

Textile Installation

On the path up into the forest, I hung knitted works from the music video “Silent Wish” (2017) and a traditional “bunad” shawl. The craftsmanship symbolizes patience, precision, and a working tranquility reminiscent of meditation.
The Swing Tree (2025)

This installation at Fjordgløtt, our new forest plot above the house, incorporates the 2020 blog post, “Akutt” (Acute). A large, uprooted pine at the edge of the clear-cut forest forms the framework for an interactive swing experience. This playful element is juxtaposed with the serious theme of clear-cutting. The blog post “Akutt” documents a spontaneous act of activism in response to the clear-cutting of the forest and recreational area directly adjacent to our property.
